The Vienna Open Lab is a hands-on laboratory, situated in the middle of Austria's largest biotechnological research location - the Vienna BioCenter. The joint initiative of Open Science and the Institute for Molecular Biotechnology of the Academy of Sciences (IMBA) was opened in 2006 and offers kids, teens and adults the opportunity to look behind the scenes of a research laboratory and to perform a wide range of experiments. More than 13.000 people visit the Vienna Open Lab each year.
