The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) is an independent institution of the European Union, founded in 2008 to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across Europe. Since 2014, the network initiative has also been active in the field of health in Europe. EIT Health is currently working with around 130 members in a "public-private partnership" to find solutions to the major healthcare challenges of our time. Leading companies, public institutions as well as renowned universities and research institutions are working together with start-ups and SMEs in innovative programmes and projects to develop new products and services that promote a sustainable health economy in Europe. The aim of EIT Health is to close the innovation gap in the life science sector.
EIT Health Austria is one of a total of eight EIT Health centres in Europe and currently supports 15 members from industry, research and education in Austria, including Boehringer Ingelheim, Med Uni Graz, the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft, as well as start-ups and SMEs in the development of groundbreaking innovations in healthcare. With the "HealthGateway.Austria" project, EIT Health Austria also operates an innovation laboratory in Vienna funded by the FFG, which increasingly integrates Austrian companies and organisations in the life science sector into the activities of EIT Health.

The name says it all: Open Science - Life Sciences in Dialogue is all about making life sciences available to everyone. The association works in a wide variety of communication projects – from discussions to laboratory workshops, teacher training and citizen science projects – to stimulate discussion about life science topics and bring scientists together with school pupils, teachers and anyone else interested in learning more.
LISAvienna is the cluster platform for life sciences in Vienna, which was set up at the interface of Austria Wirtschaftsservice and the Vienna Business Agency. On behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy and the City of Vienna, it contributes to the further development of the industry. LISAvienna supports innovative companies in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical products and digital health that develop new products, services and processes in Vienna and bring them to market internationally. The platform connects these companies with development partners and lead customers. As a thought leader, LISAvienna provides a basis for decision-making to strengthen the life sciences in Vienna and helps to position Vienna as one of Europe's leading innovation centers.

It supports companies in implementing their innovative projects by offering soft loans, grants and guarantees, particularly in cases where the funds required cannot be obtained sufficiently through alternative funding. LISA - Life Science Austria run by Austria Wirtschaftsservice aims at positioning Austria as a leading life science location offering a variety of support measures. Organized through regional life science clusters, LISA represents companies in the therapeutic, medical technology and diagnostic sectors as well as providers of enabling technologies and related service companies located in the following regions: ecoplus (Lower Austria), Medical Technology Cluster (Upper Austria), LISAvienna (Vienna), human.technology.styria (Styria), Standortagentur Tirol (Tyrol), Innovation Salzburg (Salzburg).
