The Max Perutz Labs are a research institute established by the University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna to provide an environment for excellent, internationally recognized research and education in the field of Molecular Biology. Dedicated to a mechanistic understanding of fundamental biomedical processes, scientists at the Max Perutz Labs aim to link breakthroughs in basic research to advances in human health.
R&D:Research at the Max Perutz Labs is curiosity-driven and spans the fields of molecular and cell biology. Research programmes are organized into four key areas: • Mechanistic Cell and Developmental Biology • Chromatin, RNA and Chromosome Biology • Immunity and Infection • Structural and Computational Biology Each research area supports and contributes to the mission of the Max Perutz Labs, which is to analyse and reconstitute fundamental biological processes across different scales.
Services:The Max Perutz Labs provide an excellent research environment in one of Europe’s prime locations for biomedical research including high-end core research facilities: • BioOptics (light microscopy) • FACS (flow cytometry) • Fish/Marine Facility (aquatic model systems) • Histology (tissue preparation and analysis) • Mass Spectrometry • NMR Spectroscopy • Plant Facility • Monoclonal Antibody Facility Capacities are also available for external researchers and Biotech companies at the VBC.
