Profile
The life science activities are bundled in centers of excellence at the four FH Upper Austria schools in Hagenberg, Linz, Wels and Steyr in order to realize an internationally visible main hub. In these interfaculty applied research centers, interdisciplinary solutions for technical issues in the life sciences (medicine, biomedicine, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, nutrition technology, biophysics and bioinformatics) are developed.
R&D:Technological Innovation in Medicine (biomedical data sciences and systems engineering, biomimetics and materials development, biomedical sensors, highresolution imaging, medical simulators, drug characterisation), Food Technology - Nutrition (bioactive compounds, functional food and feed products, in vitro and in vivo test systems on molecular and cellular level, food quality control through various measuring procedures)
Services:FH Upper Austria core facilities (CF) can be understood as centralized, shared resources that provide access to high-end instruments, cutting-edge technologies, state-of-the-art methods and services as well as competent consulting to address complex RDI issues. To ensure the best possible use of the available resources, Core Facilities are operated by experts who provide advice on the planning and execution of e.g. measurements, studies or experiments. These services enable RDI cooperations.
