The Biosimilars Association Austria is the voluntary interest group of biosimilars suppliers and producers. Biosimilars are equivalent successor products to biopharmaceuticals that have been approved on the market for years and whose patent has expired, thus providing an affordable alternative to expensive therapies. Our goal is to provide patients with access to innovative biopharmaceutical drug therapies that are also affordable in the long term.
In Austria, biotechnology is one of the fastest developing future industries with high growth dynamics and international competitiveness. The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) is an independent institution of the European Union, founded in 2008 to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across Europe. Since 2014, the network initiative has also been active in the field of health in Europe. EIT Health is currently working with around 100 members in a "public-private partnership" to find solutions to the major healthcare challenges of our time. Leading companies, public institutions as well as renowned universities and research institutions are working together with start-ups and SMEs in innovative programmes and projects to develop new products and services that promote a sustainable health economy in Europe. The aim of EIT Health is to close the innovation gap in the life science sector.
EIT Health Austria is one of a total of eight EIT Health centres in Europe and currently supports around 20 organisations from industry, research and education in Austria, including Boehringer Ingelheim, Med Uni Graz, MavieNext, the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft, as well as start-ups and SMEs in the development of groundbreaking innovations in healthcare. With the "HealthGateway.Austria" project, EIT Health Austria also operates an innovation laboratory in Vienna funded by the FFG, which increasingly integrates Austrian companies and organisations in the life science sector into the activities of EIT Health.
EIBIR is a service organisation dedicated to the coordination of research projects and aims to support the development of biomedical imaging and the dissemination of knowledge. EIBIR strives to improve cooperation within the European biomedical imaging community, with the goal of improving the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. EIBIR actively supports research networking activities and common initiatives and interoperability in the field of biomedical imaging research.

The Future Health Lab is an innovation centre advancing the public provision of healthcare in Austria. It is operated in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and the Austrian Health Insurance Fund, and together with the Impact Hub. Since 2023, key stakeholders have been joining forces to develop common solutions to key challenges that no organization can overcome alone: in new collaboration formats, without bureaucracy, in a protected space, and at eye level.
