The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) is the central organisation for promotion of research
and innovation in Austria.
FFG offers advice, support and promotion for research and innovation projects. In this way, the FFG
plays an important role in reaching both scientific and political goals, defined by Austria and the
European Union.
The European and International Programmes Division (EIP) of the FFG is the Austrian competence
centre for participation in international research & technology activities. We offer manifold services
for establishing and strengthening cooperation in research and technological development in the European
Research Area.

Austria Wirtschaftsservice - aws Life Science Austria
Due to its support and financing programmes, Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) is a strong partner for
the Austrian economy. aws is commissioned by the federal government to provide the best support for
Austrian business by addressing the following important topics: utilising know-how, founding new
enterprises, business succession, sustained growth, internationalisation, strengthening the
capital market, technology and innovation.
It is the task of the aws to promote the commercial implementation of findings and increase
the research and development activity of Austrian SMEs.
LISA - a programme of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour - draws on many years' of experience
in the life sciences and puts this expertise at the disposal of potential new businesses and the life

Life Science Austria Vienna Region - LISA VR
Life Science Austria Vienna Region (LISA VR) is the central consulting and coordination office for
life sciences in the Vienna Region and supports researchers and companies on their way into a successful
economic future.
LISA Vienna Region offers assistance in starting-up businesses and financing. Its co-workers foster
business planning and offer advice in applying for both national and regional funding in the form
of grants, subsidized loans as well as guarantees. LISA VR also assists in accessing private financing.
The joint initiative of Centre for Innovation and Technology (ZIT) of the City of Vienna and the
federal subsidy bank Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) supports the development and sustainable
positioning of the life sciences location Vienna Region. In addition to consulting and financing,

ecoplus. The Business Agency of Lower Austria.
For decades, the name ecoplus has been synonymous with innovative business and regional
development policies. Activities have focused on developing the business location of Lower
Austria and on supporting companies based in Lower Austria. In order to establish itself
more firmly as a home for the vibrant life science sector, Lower Austria has pursued a
strategy of creating so-called Technopols. Technopols are combined technological and
business centers, established around recognised educational and research institutes.
The program is a trendsetter in implementing a link between education, research and business. Lower Austria’s three Technopols are: Krems in the fields of medical biotechnology, Tulln in agro- and environmental biotechnology; Wiener Neustadt in materials, process and chemical engineering and medical technology. A new technopol, Wieselburg, focused on bioenergy is currently under construction.

Tiroler Zukunftsstiftung - Life Science Cluster Tyrol
Lively. Growing at rapid speed. Forward looking. That’s how the Tyrolean Life Science Scene
presents itself. Three universities with an international reputation are undertaking research
with excellent results. An innovative industry is home to a number of world market leaders.
The special dynamic of today’s biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical devices and medical
IT landscape in Tyrol is also the result of targeted investments into applied and
cooperative research and short distances between fundamental research and markets. The
Life Science Cluster Tyrol, managed by the Tiroler Zukunftsstiftung, represents 59
innovative companies, institutions and universities with approximately 21.000 employees.

Key Technologies in Bavaria
"Key Technologies in Bavaria" is a free of charge database provided by Bayern International
containing more than 20,000 entries of Bavarian enterprises, institutions from the fields of
research, technology transfer and network management as well as specialised authorities and
associations. It is a platform for Bavarian companies and facilitates the search for business
partners at home and abroad. Bayern International is an enterprise of the Free State of Bavaria
for the promotion of Bavarian foreign trade.
